Day Three, Part Two: Joyland

Left Worlds of Fun around 3, drove the Kansas Turnpike down to Wichita, KS. I highly recommend the KS Turnpike as a scenic drive, lots of green rolling hills and not much else. Very peaceful and quiet. Joyland was 5 minutes off the highway. What a great small park! And I do mean small - Clementon Lake is like Cedar Point compared to Joyland. This is one of those small out-of-the-way parks I always try to hit if I can. I still want to get to Bell's, Seabreeze, Lake Winnie and Silverwood. Got a wristband for $12 and sampled the parks (few) offerings.

Joyland

Roller Coaster (, 3 out of 4)

Ah, the simple pleasures of life. Fixed lap bars. Well-padded leather seats. No seat dividers or headrests. Classic out-and-back layout. Skid brakes. This oldie-but-goodie has it all, including a very well done first drop (parabolic) and some air in the front seat. Not a wild ride, but a quality medium-sized coaster that everyone can enjoy again and again. Very hard to get any photos of the first part of the ride due to all the trees it runs through, but the L-portion of the ride is all the way out to the parking lot, allowing you to get up-close-and-personal with the structure. I could have spent all night riding this small gem.
